Summary

Permanent role for a small business Sales of Batteries in the Electronic and Electrical Equipment industry, based in Kirkby in Ashfield, NOTTS, starting between 30 August 2016 and 30 October 2016.


Hours: 8.30 – 5.30 (Mon-Fri) 30 mins Lunch, Sat Mornings 8.30 – 1pm

Location: Kirkby-in-Ashfield with other retail outlets at Nuthall and Ilkeston.

Our client is a family-run business, established in 1974, with over 40 years’ experience and expertise in servicing customer requirements within the battery industry. Ideally located in the Centre of the country with branches within east midlands, which provides easy access to the whole of the UK

Due to their growth they are now looking to recruit a Retail Shop Supervisor / Deputy Store Manager to join them at one of their retail shops. Reporting to the sales Director you will be maintaining and growing sales in a busy retail establishment. Selling batteries of all types and associated products to the general public & trade customers. Ideally you should be able to offer some basic technical or DIY competence although full product training will be given

Deputy Shop Manager - Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Identifying required battery (s) using in house software, locating the stock and selling to customers via our customised EPOS system.
Fitting batteries to vehicles, mobility scooters and other applications.
Controlling stock levels in store and keeping display areas merchandised with correct pricing and in line with monthly promotions. Adhering to opening and closing procedures including placement of external signs, opening & closing shutters, preparing external displays where applicable.
Visual upkeep of store from a cosmetic and cleanliness perspective.
Booking in batteries that have been returned to us for testing under warranty – carry out tests and promptly informing clients of the results.
Supplying replacement batteries in the outcome of a warranty fail, completing correct procedure on stock system and supplying correct information to accounts team.
Weighing scrap batteries and quoting customers a price for their scrap. Processing scrap accounts and liaising with scrap/accounts team.
Effective use of office diary and spreadsheets to track/record customer appointments and activity i.e warranty collections and vehicle fits.
Achieve store targets using activity set out in the sales growth plan, working with sales director and the marketing department i.e texting potential customers, using social media, up selling and cross selling associated products and supporting in store promotions.
Cashing up/End of day till/PDQ reconciliation.
Setting up and managing Retail Trade Accounts.
Attending training meetings.
Adopting the ideas and principles of the companies LEAN approach to business and customer service, implementing these at all times and contributing to the development of LEAN.
Deputy Shop Manager - Key Skills and Requirements
2 years retail experience within a customer focused environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Self-motivated
Ability to work on your own initiative
Team player
Handle multiple tasks within a busy shop environment including stock control, promotions, pricing and handling warranties.
Experience in fitting and testing batteries for the battery industry is advantageous however training will be provided for the right candidate.
Ideally you should be able to offer some basic technical or DIY competence although full product training will be given

Annual Salary from £18,000 to £20,000
